THE ODYSSEY

An Epic Tale of Home, Heroes & the Sea

This Winter, Theatre on the Blue sets sail on an epic adventure!

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming winter production of The Odyssey, directed by Jonah Maidoff and Artistic Director Heather A. Capece.

Jonah is a retired history teacher, playwright, and director whose deep knowledge and love of history make him the perfect person to bring this timeless epic to the stage. We are so excited to welcome Jonah back to the theatre and combine his passion for storytelling and history with his talents as a director.

This fast-paced theatrical adventure will bring Homer's legendary journey to life with mythical monsters, sea battles, heroes, humor, and the timeless search for home.

Our Mission on Stage and Behind the Scenes

One of Theatre on the Blue's missions is to create meaningful opportunities for Island teens to work alongside talented adult actors, directors, designers, and creative crew members.

The Odyssey will be another opportunity for our young performers and theatre-makers to learn, collaborate, build confidence, and experience the magic of creating a production together.

We are looking for actors, backstage crew, set builders, costumers, props, sound, lights, front-of-house volunteers, and more. Whether you want to be onstage or behind the scenes, there is a place for you on this adventure!

“ Falling in love with theater …so life changing in kindergarten …sparked my love for story telling”

—Koko

Ray at MVYRadio sits down with Heather and Koko Capece to talk about the creation of Theatre on the Blue. After years pursuing acting in Los Angeles, Heather returned home to build something meaningful on the Island. She’s joined by her daughter, Koko — a dedicated theatre artist, playwright, and actress in her own right. Together, they take listeners behind the scenes of their creative journey, sharing insight into their process and the heartfelt dynamic of a mother and daughter collaborating in the arts.
